John is currently the Director of Estates and Facilities Management for the Diocese of Salford responsible for maintenance and upkeep of all the estate. He has been responsible for many years for implementing the Schools Capital Programme ensuring delivery of projects on time and on budget and developing systems to monitor and guarantee the expenditure of all available funding for the benefit of Diocesan Schools, he was instrumental in setting up the Salford Diocese Schools Building Project, a scheme that has ensured access to all available government grants.

He has worked extensively with schools putting in place development plans and supporting the development of the diocesan school estate. In recent years he has taken responsibility for the parochial estate of the diocese developing systems and processes to manage capital projects working on churches presbyteries and parish halls including the curial offices, Cathedral and Grade I, II* and II listed buildings. He is a quantity surveyor by profession having worked for many years in private practice. He sits on the NW Historic Churches Committee representing the Diocese of Salford.

For many years he was a governor in a high school taking the chair for 9 years and going through three Ofsted inspections.
